Greatly involved for a long time now, the Ambassador of Poland has once more visited the school. She was given a concert by the Music School students. Generosity of Polish Embassy covers many areas of the school, one of the most noticeable being the donation of iPads and BraillePens which help our Visually Impaired learners in their daily studying.
The Belgian Ladies of Charity have come from Johannesburg to visit the school. They are some of our most generous donors, especially involved in improving the wellness in the hostels.
31 learners of Grade 12 have entered today their final examination phase for the National Senior Certificate. Among them are 11 visually impaired or totally blind students. As a novelty for this year, those were using iPads and BraillePens to answer the question papers (for more information, visit our page about technology at the service of the blinds). The school offers variety of topics to choose from, as so many different ways to adapt the education to one’s preferences.
All the children were welcome for the festival of Saint Francis Catholic Academy on 10th of October. Diverse activities were organised such as jumping castle, jumping balls or swimming pool, as well as a second-hand stuff market and a toy lottery. We believe such events contribute to the family atmosphere in the school, emphasizing the proximity between learners and teachers. Special thanks to our supports, the Ladies of Charity and Rotary Club International.
For the first time, our Grade 12 students have passed their Consumer Studies practical exam. During a full morning, they shew their knowledge in one of the three practical skills taught at school: cooking, sewing and knitting.
